We built a free AI visibility scanner. Here is what we found.
14 April 2026 — swindon.business
Today we are launching a free AI visibility scanner for local businesses. Paste your website URL, and in about 30 seconds you will see exactly how visible your business is to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.
How the scanner works
The scanner runs a real diagnostic on your website. It is not a simulation or a generic report. Here is what it does:
- Fetches your homepage and up to three linked subpages
- Checks for existing structured data (JSON-LD schemas)
- Checks for an llms.txt file
- Identifies your business type and location
- Queries AI engines with "best [your category] in [your location]" and checks whether your business appears in the results
- Calculates a visibility score out of 10 based on a published rubric
- Generates a preview of your AI-optimised profile with structured data
Every line you see in the terminal is real work happening on our server, streamed to your browser as it completes. Nothing is faked.
What we have found so far
In our early testing with Swindon businesses, most sites score between 0 and 2 out of 10. The most common issues:
- No structured data at all. Most small business websites have zero JSON-LD markup. AI systems cannot easily parse what the business does or where it is.
- No llms.txt. This is an emerging standard, so it is no surprise. But it is a quick win.
- Not cited by AI engines. When we ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for recommendations in a specific category and location, most small businesses simply do not appear.
What we do about it
After your scan, you will see a projected score showing what your visibility could be after we publish your optimised profile on swindon.business. We generate LocalBusiness and FAQPage schemas, host them at your own swindon.business subdomain, and include you in our llms.txt directory.
The full service is £39/month, with a founding rate of £29/month for the first 25 businesses. But the scan itself is completely free, no account needed.
Try the scanner now and see where you stand.
