How we score AI visibility

Your AI visibility score measures how discoverable your business is to AI search engines right now. The score is out of 10, based on real signals we can test.

The rubric

SignalPoints
Business cited in ChatGPT baseline query for your category + location3
Business cited in Perplexity baseline query2
Business cited in Google AI Overviews baseline query2
Existing LocalBusiness JSON-LD schema on your website1
Existing FAQPage JSON-LD schema on your website1
llms.txt present on your domain1

What we add (projected score)

After publishing your profile on swindon.business, your projected score includes:

We do not assume baseline query results will improve. We don't promise ChatGPT will cite you. We promise we've made you citable. Results typically take effect within 30 days as search engines re-index.

How baseline queries work

For each AI engine, we run a query like "who is the best [your category] in [your location]?" and check whether your business name appears in the response.

Disclosure: simulated engines

Our baseline queries currently use a frontier large language model (Anthropic Claude) to simulate how each AI engine responds, based on its training data from the public web. This is a proxy, not a direct API call to ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google.

We are progressively upgrading each engine to use its real API as access becomes available. The simulated version is a reasonable indicator of visibility because all of these systems draw from similar web sources.

We will always disclose which engines use real APIs and which are simulated.

Why this matters

Traditional SEO targets Google's search index. But an increasing number of customers are asking AI assistants for recommendations instead of searching Google. These AI systems rely on structured data, authoritative content and machine-readable formats to form their answers.

If your business has no structured data, no FAQ schema and no presence in AI training corpora, you are invisible to this new channel. That's what we fix.

About llms.txt

llms.txt is an emerging standard (similar to robots.txt) that provides a machine-readable summary of a website specifically for AI systems. It's useful but not yet universally adopted. We include it because it costs nothing and helps AI crawlers understand your business.
